Is the Internet Permanent?

It is, so why does something you’ve created in print feel more real than online? Is it because a book has more weight and tactile appeal, or is it our framework that tells us that books are more lasting than digital? The reverse may actually be true.

I don’t smoke, but there’s an analogy to blogging: for as much as it feels good to blog, I can’t remember one post I’ve written over another. Like a cigarette, there’s rarely one that stands out in memory. Instead, I do it for the feeling I get from it, and that’s what makes it real.
